Consumers Energy Foundation Awards Gift to United Way

Albion-Homer United Way received a $1,200 corporate gift from the Consumers Energy Foundation. The donation will add to the ongoing AHUW 2020-2021 campaign.

Marcia Starkey, AHUW Executive Director said the gift is in addition to the donations made by Consumers Energy employees and retirees and is made annually by the foundation.

“We are grateful to the Consumers Energy Foundation for its continued support of the Albion-Homer United Way,” Starkey said. “It is support like this that allows us to continue our mission to help make grants to organizations in Albion and Homer.”

The mission of the AHUW is to provide “long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening” to help community members “live more whole lives-a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support family through retirement, and good health.”

Starkey also said there are four good reasons to donate to the Albion-Homer United Way including that donations fund Albion and Homer specific programs and that funding decisions are made locally. Donor lists are never shared with other agencies and payroll deductions make donating easier.

“Giving to United Way will make a difference,” Starkey emphasized.

Donations can be mailed to AHUW PO Box 55, Albion, MI 49224, made on-line at www.albionhomeruw.org/ or by contacting Starkey at 517-499-2563 or mstarkey74@gmail.com.
